CrewRoo doesn't process payments, hold money, or take a cut. Pay online links put buttons on your invoices that take your client straight to your own PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, Stripe, or Square — or show your Zelle details — so they can pay you directly.
Add your links
- Go to Profile → Getting Paid (Payments on phones).
- Under Pay Online Links, fill in any you use:
- PayPal — your PayPal.me name (the part after paypal.me/).
- Venmo — your Venmo username, without the @.
- Cash App — your $Cashtag, with or without the $.
- Zelle — the email or US mobile number your Zelle is set up with.
- Stripe payment link — a Payment Link from your own Stripe account (starts with https://buy.stripe.com/).
- Square payment link — a payment link from your own Square account (starts with https://square.link/u/ or https://checkout.square.site/).
- Tap Save Payment Links.
Pasting a whole profile link (like paypal.me/yourname or venmo.com/u/yourname) works too; CrewRoo keeps just the name. Tap Check it under a saved one to open it and make sure it's your account.
To remove one, clear the box and tap Save Payment Links.
What your client sees
- In the email: a Pay with PayPal (Venmo, Cash App) button for each, a Pay by card button for a Stripe or Square link, and for Zelle a line saying to send the total to your email or phone from their bank's app. Under them: "Payment goes directly to" your name, and that CrewRoo doesn't process or hold payments.
- On the invoice PDF: a HOW TO PAY box under the total, with each link clickable.
- PayPal, Venmo, and Cash App open with the invoice total filled in. Venmo also fills in the invoice number as the note.
- Stripe and Square open your payment page; your client types in the total. Set your Stripe Payment Link to let the customer choose the amount.
A paid or void invoice shows no pay buttons.
Choosing which ones go on an invoice
Every link you've saved is ticked under Pay Online Buttons when you send. Untick any you don't want on that invoice. The PDF downloaded later shows the same ones. See Send an invoice by email.
After your client pays
CrewRoo can't see your PayPal, Venmo, or bank accounts, so it doesn't know when you've been paid. When the money arrives, open the invoice, tap Mark as Paid, and pick how you were paid under Paid by. See Invoice statuses and marking an invoice paid.
Fees and account rules
- PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, Stripe, and Square charge you their own fees on business payments — often around 2–3.5%, which is about $100–$175 on a $5,000 invoice. Zelle and bank transfer are usually free. See each service for its current fees.
- Venmo and Cash App expect business payments to go to a business profile or account, not a personal one. Check their terms before you use them for invoices.
- Some services limit how much someone can send at once or per week, which can matter on a large invoice. Offering Zelle or your bank details (see Payment details and the payment info sheet) gives your client a no-fee option.
